Extropianism and Me

Why I am an Extropian

I joined the Extropian community because it brought together many things that I was already interested in: cryonics, Libertarianism, space colonization, nanotechnology, immortalism, futurism, optimism, etc. I was attracted to the slogan "BEST DO IT SO", which is short for "Boundless Expansion, Self-Transformation, Dynamic Optimism, Intelligent Technology, and Spontaneous Order". They've refined the principle list somewhat (losing the nifty mnemonic acronym in the process), but I use this list because it's close enough for everyday use, and I think the acronym is just great!

How I put my money where my mouth is

I'm a dues-paying member of the Extropy Institute, and have attended their (biennial) conferences since 1995. They haven't been asking for more, so I haven't been doing more. I'm sure that when they gear up for the next conference, this will change :-) .
